Vanita Vishram Institution Founders
The foundation of Vanita Vishram Institution traces back to the vision and compassion of two pioneering social reformers — Smt. Bajigauri D. Munshi and Smt. Shivgauri K. Gajjar. On 15th May 1907, they established an ashram dedicated to the welfare of helpless widows, divorcees, and marginalized women. This noble beginning laid the cornerstone for what would become a century-old legacy in womens empowerment through education.
A landmark in this journey was the construction of the Vanita Vishram building in Bombay (now Mumbai), made possible by a generous donation of ₹50,000 from Zaverbai Bhagwandas Narotamdas, contributing half of the buildings total cost, after that change building Name "Zaverbai Bhagwandas Narotamdas building Gifted for The Vanita Vishram Bombay (Mumbai)".
The Vanita Vishram School Bombay (Mumbai) building was formally inaugurated on Tuesday, 30th March 1915 by Her Excellency Lady Willingdon. Today, this humble initiative has grown into the Vanita Vishram Institution, one of the largest educational campuses in Mumbai & Surat region, serving learners from pre-school to college under one roof. With its guiding motto, “Empowerment of Women through Education,” the institution now supports both women and men of all ages, offering transformative opportunities in education, vocational training, self-employment, and personal development.
